Tow Your OP4 Safely
Hitching and towing your OP4 is the first step to your off-road adventure! This guide makes it easy and safe, so you can hit the trails with confidence.
Let’s get your camper ready to roll!
Hitching Up Made Simple
Lock ‘N’ Roll Hitch
- Remove the tow pin cover and clean/lubricate the surfaces.
- Raise the trailer above the tow pin using the jockey wheel or stand.
- Push and hold the lock button to open the lock plate.
- Lower the coupling onto the tow pin until it seats, then release the lock button.
- Snap the Checklock cap into place.
DO35 Cruisemaster
- Follow the same steps, but depress the red button to slide the lock.
- Ensure the tow pin protrudes before locking.
- Extra Safety: Add a Saracen DO35 Hitch Lock for peace of mind.
Safety First: Always attach safety chains to your vehicle’s bumper or receiver (not the hitch). Cross the chains to manage slack—check your state laws!
Towing Tips for a Smooth Ride
- Wheels & Tires: Your 15 in alloy rims with 235/75R15 tires need 100 ft lbs torque in a star pattern. Check pressure monthly (see the door sticker for pressure details).
- Brakes: The 12V Electric Drum Brakes hum when working—get an in-car controller. Adjust after 200 miles, then every 3000 miles.
- Electrical Plug: Use the 7-pin flat for lights and brakes.
- Legal Stuff: Check your license for towing limits and follow state rules (e.g., no multiple trailers in some areas).
- Gear Up: Carry lights, a license plate light, reflectors, flares, and tie-downs.
- Keep It Maintained: Service brakes annually; check bolts after 50/500 miles, then every 2000.
Why It Matters: Towing right keeps your OP4 in top shape, saving you repair costs and keeping your adventures worry-free!
